Dr. Strause brings more than 25 years of expertise in global clinical operations and clinical development, with an emphasis in oncology, critical care, and ethical considerations for subjects with life-threatening diseases. She was most recently the executive director and head of clinical operations for Vical Inc., where she was responsible for the conduct of all infectious disease programs and all aspects of a Phase 3 clinical trial in malignant melanoma conducted at more than 100 sites in 15 countries. Dr. Strause has held executive management positions at multiple biotechnology companies, site management and healthcare research organizations and at a global CRO. She has managed all activities of global study launch from site qualification and selection, all investigational site contracts, budgets and payments, to regulatory documents and strategic planning. Dr. Strause was senior research scholar and founding chair of the San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care IRB, where she continued as chair for over 15 years. She has served on the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) Board of Trustees and on a host of industry boards governing industry clinical trial research and ethics practices. Dr. Strauss received her doctoral degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
